Our story

AssetAccountant was formed in February 2019 to address the accounting market’s desire to automate fixed asset depreciation and lease accounting.

Of the existing desktop and cloud products available worldwide, none had attempted to comprehensively solve the ‘fixed assets problem’.

Existing products were (and remain) limited by:

  • rudimentary modelling of tax rulings and accounting standards
  • inability to model tax and accounting depreciation, side by side
  • inability to handle the accounting complexity of Finance Leases, Hire Purchases and Right of Use assets
  • inability to scale beyond hundreds or thousands of assets
  • inability to scale globally
  • inability to integrate with leading General Ledger and ERP platforms
  • lack of appropriate data security (i.e. ISO27001 certification)

Our early engagements with accounting firms and businesses of all sizes revealed that, as a consequence of these limitations, the most common approach to managing fixed asset depreciation and lease calculations was by building complex and error-prone spreadsheets.

Our expert accounting and software development team knew there was a better way – leading to the development of our cloud-based, API first, highly performant and scalable platform.

Since the initial MVP release of AssetAccountant’s fixed asset depreciation software in June 2020, we have:

  • built detailed accounting rules for both US GAAP and IFRS
  • built detailed tax rules for the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand as well as basic tax rules for all other countries
  • integrated and partnered with cloud accounting software giants including Sage, Microsoft, Xero and Intuit
  • built comprehensive fixed asset lease accounting and scheduling functionality
  • onboarded and partnered with some of the largest accounting firms in the world
  • onboarded multinational corporations as well as local businesses worldwide

We continue to invest heavily in development of new features and remain dedicated to solve the fixed assets problem, for every size entity, everywhere in the world.
